Today.

Wildfire raging in north eastern Alberta destroying the city of Fort McMurray and everything else in its path. 60000to 80000 people displace and trying to get to safety. Gridlock on the hi way going south, folks heading north seeking shelter and safety. I know a few people caught up in that and here's this evening I sat here with my nose in a snit over something I thought I should have had and didn't get, barking at my son until he finally says "maybe you should go to one of those meetings dad, they always seem to make you feel better and your more fun to be around." Suggestion well taken, went to a meeting, everyone sitting around those tables knew what I was talking about.
If you are a artist, musician, poet, writer, dancer, whatever, there is probably nothing as crippling to ones artistic process and development as envy or jealousy of someone else's success. I know that I have been at this a few long years now but when it creeps into my thinking, it is as toxic today as it was 25-30 years ago and farther back than that even. I learned the hard way that if I don't rejoice in others success and accomplishments, I will never, ever get to appreciate my own.
That said, if you want to feel happy for two and a half minutes, go to YouTube, look up the Youngbloods and put on your headphones and hit repeat 20 times and listen to " Grizzly Bear". For you folks in northern Alberta getting out of Fort McMurray, be safe.

It just means there's still fire in the musical belly.
